Walking through a crowded space, sometimes you can just hear something calling to you from out of the surrounding din. In this case, a beaten up turtle peeked out from a pile of unsorted junk. I think it was the tilt of the head, or just the sense of "rescue me" that provided the initial connection. Some soldering, some inventive re-purposing and a lot of care went into this new incarnation of a beaten up pin cushion.
Now, a wonderful creature carries it's own light wherever it goes, shining and smiling and lighting the way into another world.

Original lighting sculpture, from the series ‘Les Rêves de la Mer’ (The Dreams of the Sea). One of the dreamscape creatures, fashioned as a small table lamp. Hand carved plaster over metal armature, found object turtle form. Signed by the artist. Blue patina over burnished gold, high-low dimmer and switch.
