“The Shells of Dreams”

A series about the beauty of nature, fragile and yet strong, combined with the beauty of human dreams.

Ornament and vision are the dynamic elements within “Coquillage”, named for the 18^th century Venetian technique of placing shells in mortar.  The encrustation of tiny shells, each hand placed, accumulates to obscure the traditional chandelier elements, as if the sea itself had decorated an undersea palace.

Crystals represent the human vision, reflecting and refracting nature’s beauty while the spiraling shapes of the shells themselves generate the central design elements.

The fragile beauty of our dreams, the “ornaments” of our creative minds, need protection, just like the tiny creatures of the sea in whose simple “homes” we see so much elegance.
